About
Short bio
I am a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
I obtained my PhD in 2022 at the Astrophysics Research Institute in Liverpool (UK).
I am what people call a “spanish-geordie”. This means that I can cook a paella and sing to Blaydon races. I also used to be a professional basketball player for the Newcastle Eagles before turning to academia.
Code
I have recently become passionate about writing good code and learning about new machine-learning/AI models I can incorporate into my research.
Some examples of the code I have written or contributed towards for scientific and machine-learning research include:
Lux: A generative, multi-output, latent-variable model for astronomical data with noisy labels, linked to this paper
apogee: For modelling the density of stellar populations in the Milky Way using APOGEE DR17, linked to this paper
Chem-chi-squared: To statistically compare the chemical abundance profiles of stellar populations in the Milky Way, linked to this paper
